Putin: Russians must eat more vegetables, meat, fish

USMAN, Lipetsk Region, Jan 22 (PRIME) – Russians’ consumer basket’s structure should be revised to include more vegetables, fish and meat, President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting with community leaders of Usman on Wednesday.

“You are right, this has to be adjusted timely and the basket should be looked into,” Putin said.

“Experts say its structure requires an improvement because, I do not remember the exact figures, but the bulk of it consists of potato, fats and all, bread and bakery, while vegetables, fruit are too scarce, fish and meat do not occupy their due place in the basket. That’s why it will be revised, of course.”
